Valuing your Collection for Sale

  • Single items or larger collections. Research is undertaken where highly specialised items are concerned and advice and opinions sought from Adam’s many contacts within the museum and art world.
  • Establishing the best method of selling your items, whether by auction, or alternatively by private treaty to UK clients, or to a growing number of Chinese and other Far Eastern private clients.
  • A visit to your home by Adam is free of charge to those considering selling their antiques and art. This service is available throughout the UK and abroad, and at short notice if necessary.

Specialist Written Valuations

Insurance

  • Ensure your cherished possessions are valued on an up to date basis every 5 years. Photographs of high value items can also be arranged.
  • Retrospective valuations can be prepared in the event of an item being lost but not previously valued.

Family/Matrimonial Division

  • Identification and fair distribution of chattels according to the terms of Wills or legal agreements.

Capital Gains Tax

  • Values at retrospective levels for tax assessment for private clients or their financial advisors.

Other Valuations

  • Willing buyer/willing seller in the event of house purchase with contents.

Expert Witness

Adam undertakes expert witness work both in and out of court for clients and their legal representatives.

Adam is an experienced lecturer and public speaker on numerous art and antique subjects, and is always keen to help local charities with events.

Adam has specialist knowledge of Chinese, Himalayan, and Japanese works of art, including paintings, thangkas, lacquer and porcelain.

Adam’s expertise extends to disciplines such as jade and other mineral carvings, as well as scholar’s desk pieces such as bamboo brush pots, oriental furniture, ink stones, Buddhist carvings and bronzes.

Adam has catalogued and valued numerous private collections of Asian Art in Europe, Canada and the Far East.
